About Me

I first started to learn to play the piano at the age of 3. My mother was my teacher, and taught me all the necessary foundation and building blocks essential for a successful future in the industry. At the age of 13, I had attained an Advanced Certificate and Associates Degree in Piano Performance from The Royal Schools of Music, London and Trinity College, London with distinctions. By the age of 15, I attained my Licentiate Degree (one level below a Fellowship), also with distinction. At this time, I had already begun as a Teacher Assistant, Music Accompanist, and a Youth Choir Conductor that participated in and won many championships.
I started teaching professionally in 1999 and in 2002, founded my own music school in Malaysia. Later, I came to the United States to pursue my degree in Finance and Accounting. Now, I teach because of passion and to share and impart all I know to those who want to experience the joy of music.
My main instrument is the piano, but I also play the organ and violin, and have participated in band performances with the flute and clarinet. The wonderful thing about having musical knowledge is that you can switch from one instrument to another with considerable ease.
Music has always been my passion and is something I hold very dear to my heart. It gives me joy and brightens my day. Music to me, is like a language of emotion, art, creativity, and love. It speaks what words cannot, and demonstrates what action cannot. It is also an art of science and logic, bringing structure to chaos. Music is a special gift from God.
I offer professional one-on-one piano, music theory, and ear training (aural) lessons in my home studio. With more than 15 years of teaching experience, I am dedicated to my students' enjoyment and success in the wonderful art of the music language.
I teach music to children as well as adults. My goal is to create musicians, not just pianists. I also do a lot of accompaniment work for competitions and ensembles. Music is my passion and lifelong enjoyment and I hope to make it yours too. I take pride in my students' progress as we work together to achieve a well rounded musician. Each student is unique and I love that they challenge me to find creative ways to teach every day.
